Welcoming New Talent

As the summer term draws to a close, we were thrilled to have another fantastic intern temporarily join the Zen team, eager to learn all about PR and communications.

Iz Brazier, a Year 12 student from Thomas Telford, is currently taking A-levels in English Language, Psychology, and Biology. With an interest in digital and social PR in particular, here she explains why she wanted to work with the Zen team to further enhance her knowledge:

“I chose to contact Zen about a work experience placement due to my interest in language – both English and foreign ones (in fact, one of my hobbies is learning languages: I’m currently studying Norwegian!)

“Due to my lack of holistic knowledge about the different job sectors available to me, I thought that a placement at a PR company would be a fruitful insight into the world of work within an industry that caters to my interests, as PR utilises language to – ultimately - promote businesses. Upon researching the company, I was surprised to find such a personal and relaxed professional business that took such an interest in its clients’ needs, and that also had previously taken on students for work experience. It was perfect!

“During my time at Zen, I undertook many (mainly investigative) tasks which were engaging and well-suited to my abilities, as I’m a sucker for research. Furthermore, I grew to understand how organised and friendly the team is, and how this aids their interactions with other businesses.

“The realistic picture I obtained from Zen has given me an insight into one of the many corporate jobs that could utilise my skills, as well as another career avenue to explore. Thank you so much to Zen Communications for hosting me: this experience has been truly interesting and rewarding!”

Our MD, Rhi, added: “It’s been an absolute delight to have Iz join us in the office, and to witness her also wholeheartedly embrace our flexible and hybrid working approach. Yet again, it has been fantastic to host a local student to highlight what it’s like to work within the PR and communications industry, the roles within it, and to hopefully inspire the next generation.

“We would like to thank you, Iz, for all your hard work, insights and fresh perspective that you’ve shared with each member of the Zen team, and we wish you all the very best in your next chapter.”
