A Fascination for Serial Killers...

After discovering the entire Zen team has a fascination with all things crime, serial killers and psychological profiling, we couldn’t resist planning a team night out to the Hunting Killers event at The Buttermarket.

Hosted by the incredible Mark Williams-Thomas, we gained first-hand insight into some of the most prolific serial killers from the last few decades. And, we discovered some truly horrific (but fascinating nonetheless) anecdotes from Mark’s career, including how he approaches, converses with, and interviews these horrendous individuals.

Another fantastic evening for #TeamZen - and we were joined by our very lovely client Michelle as an honorary Zen 💚

Not only did we all come away with a signed copy of Hunting Killers - which we cannot wait to read! - but, we also left with lots to think about, many questions to mull over, and all completely in awe of Mark!

And so we know exactly which words to choose to create the most powerful psychological and emotional connection with your customers. But what is it about language that gives it the power to both inspire and alienate? Why do some words have more impact than others, why do some spark laughter whilst others bring tears?

Why Words Matter - What Children Can Teach Us About the Power of Language

The summer holidays are in full swing. Routines are out the window, the call for snacks is never-ending, and whether you’re a parent, carer, or just someone sharing public space with sugar-fuelled children - patience may well be wearing a little thin. Yes it’s valuable time with our children that we’ll never get back, and the joy on their little faces absolutely makes it all worthwhile. But it’s also a busy, often chaotic time of year for many of us. So in the midst of all the juggling, it’s worth pausing to ask ourselves one simple question … How are we speaking to our children right now? What messages are they absorbing? Because whether it’s shouted across the park, muttered under our breath, or carefully chosen in a bedtime story - our words stick.
