My Business is Profitable – Why Do I Need PR?

Asking why a business already making money would need to partner with a PR firm is similar to querying why a student already getting C grades would continue revising for their exams, or why anyone ever buys a bigger house or a faster car.

While there are few PR firms in the world who would give you a guarantee as solid as ‘we will increase your profits by X amount’, the facts are that the more people who’ve heard about your company, the more exposure you get across a variety of channels, and the greater your reputation is the more likely this is to convert into sales.  So, why wouldn’t you take on the advice and expertise of a company who could help you to further build your brand and your reputation?

If someone needs a product or service that you sell, then they’re much more likely to turn to your company in order to buy that product or service if they’ve recently read (and continue to consistently read) something really positive about you. There’s so much competition out there that you can’t solely rely on your website popping up on a search engine and the prospective customer clicking on to a page and making a purchase or enquiry. Instead, your chances are greatly improved if you work with a PR agency to come up with a carefully-crafted and expertly executed plan which will see you receiving regular positive publicity - and most importantly, amongst those who matter most to you.

Your business can always become more profitable and presumably you launched your company with the aim of being the best at what you do – very few company owners or MDs are happy with being just average!  You’re likely to be hiring an accountant to ensure your business’s financial affairs are in order, an IT expert to ensure your systems and security are top-notch, and an HR team to make sure your contracts and policies are fully compliant – so why would you not take on a PR agency to look after one of the most precious things your company owns: its reputation...?

Don’t just take our word for it, here are some quotes about PR from some people you may well have heard of:

“If I had one dollar left, I’d spend it on PR.” – Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft which is currently valued at $290 billion. His personal $91.9 billion fortune makes him the second richest person on the planet.

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing about.” – Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.

“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.” – Warren Buffett, one of America’s most successful business people. He’s personally worth nearly $90 billion.

Halloween is just a week away and we all know that if done well, this tongue-in-cheek calendar event is scarily-good at tapping into the public psyche and reaching out to the masses. But, what happens if things don’t go to plan?

Why Words Matter - What Children Can Teach Us About the Power of Language

The summer holidays are in full swing. Routines are out the window, the call for snacks is never-ending, and whether you’re a parent, carer, or just someone sharing public space with sugar-fuelled children - patience may well be wearing a little thin. Yes it’s valuable time with our children that we’ll never get back, and the joy on their little faces absolutely makes it all worthwhile. But it’s also a busy, often chaotic time of year for many of us. So in the midst of all the juggling, it’s worth pausing to ask ourselves one simple question … How are we speaking to our children right now? What messages are they absorbing? Because whether it’s shouted across the park, muttered under our breath, or carefully chosen in a bedtime story - our words stick.
